Traveling with a toddler

I️ started traveling with Jax as early as 6 weeks postpartum. I️ took him back to Nebraska to visit the rest of my family! I️ do visit them pretty frequently and of course Jax would come along. We visited Nebraska last week to for Christmas and it was the 10th time we’ve traveled by air. My oh my how he has changed in just 16 months! Hahahaha 😂😂! The behaviors on the airplane! Im sharing some things I’ve found to be helpful when traveling with your little one

• A back-pack diaper bag

I️ absolutely love my Fawn Design diaper bag, it can hold so much!! I️t was about 4 little pockets that you can put different items in, such as diapers, wipes, extra clothes, bottles. I️ love that it comes in different neutral colors! It is super sturdy and I️ highly recommend one! They also make the mini version, which I’m thinking about buying as well just because the bag is so versatile! It is a bit pricy to spend on a diaper bag, and I️ believe a similar style at everyone’s favorite store, Target, 😊 will be just as great!

• Snacks

Always carry snacks. Always. No matter how long the trip is, or how you don’t think they’ll want it, or whatever the reason may be, just stop. A L W A Y S C A R R Y S N A C K S

• Books

Books are a great way to keep them engage on the airplane! Jax seems to really love those pop-up books, I️ think it’s only so that he has things to grab and destroy.. 😑. I️ have been on flights where I️ had forgot the books and I️ noticed that he does get all over the place and it’s harder to keep him sitting still

• traveling strollers

Okay so I️ was skeptical about this one, because I’m thinking ‘why should I️ waste money on another stroller when I️ already have one with the car seat set?’ This quickly changes after about the 8th time I’ve traveled. The regular stroller is heavy!!! And it is very hard to go through security with a baby, a diaper bag and a stroller! Also! TSA at airports are NOT consistent with what they want you to do with the stroller! Some will say you can walk it through the little metal door, whereas some will make you fold it and go through the belt. It is UNCLEAR! I’ve been in situation where I️ didn’t know and they told me to put it on the belt, and also where I’ve spent all the energy and work to fold it and put it on the belt and then being told I️ have to take it back down.. 😑😑😑. So, travel strollers??! Yes, please!!

Those are the tips I’ve found to be helpful! Let me know what helps you the most when you travel with a baby!!

Thanks for reading! Much love ❤️❤️

  1. Oh god I think my daughter as well has been on a plane around 10th time or more haha and most of them was long distant flight around 8hrs to 24hrs. I must say travelling with toddler especially if you travelling alone is not an easy task at all!

But like you said, we just need some tips and trick up our sleeve to make it bearable lol Like you I always bring snack, all her favourite snack because that will be the only way to calm her down if she throw a tantrum. I also always bring the baby carrier, I don’t know how many times I’ve said that but baby carrier are a god send, as soon as I pop her in she will stop crying immediately haha

I also bring new toys for her, because she get bored easily so giving her new things to play with will entertain her for about 5 to 10 minutes which to us mum is a lifesaver lol It also helped me to ask to get either the bassinet seat for more leg space and for her to be able to just sit down and play, if not available I try to get two seats so she can sit on her own which is the best!

I’ve found that air hostess and steward are here if you need help, sometimes we afraid to ask them by fear of them saying no but they always friendly especially when they see babies!

    1. Awww!! I’m so happy to hear I’m not the only one! Lolol! So true! Air hostess and steward can be very helpful!!! I’ve used the baby carrier when he was little, up until 8 or 9 months, but then it gets harder to carry him, as he keeps trying to get out of it! 😑😑!
